Thrombosed Hemorrhoid

Thrombosed Hemorrhoid

Sometimes, blood can pool in an external hemorrhoid, forming a clot (thrombus). This hemorrhoid is called a thrombosed external hemorrhoid. (To see an images of the types of hemorrhoids, see our pictures of hemorrhoids page.)

Unfortunately, thrombosed hemmeroids are one of the most painful hemorrhoids to experience, and it has been compared to the pain caused by childbirth and kidney stones. Some medical textbooks describe the pain as “exquisite,” which should give you an idea of the description. Those of you who have or are now experiencing one of these already know the extreme pain that a thrombosed hemorrhoid can cause.

Symptoms of a thrombosed hemorrhoid

The symptoms of a thrombosed hemorrhoid include:

* A very painful lump of soft tissue outside the anus. It may feel like a small, very tender pebble near the anus.
* Bright red blood on the toilet paper or on the stool.
* Constant pain that is made worse by passing hard stool.

Thrombosed hemorrhoids affect only the small veins near the skin surface (superficial veins). Unlike blood clots in the deep veins, blood clots in thrombosed hemorrhoids do not travel to the lungs or another part of the body and do not cause serious problems.

Treatment of Thrombosed Hemorrhoid

The best treatment for a thrombosed hemorrhoid is one that treats the causes of hemorrhoids, thus eliminating the hemorrhoids for good. However, if your doctor recommends surgery, there are two common types of surgery that are used. The first is simple incision and removal of the thrombus or clot itself. The doctor makes an cut in the top of the hemorrhoid to remove the blood clot and the

skin just above. Your physician may choose to leave wound open to heal on its own, or your doctor may stitch the opening. This method does not remove the entire hemorrhoid: it removes only the clot. Because it leaves the original hemorrhoid intact, you will have to follow up with treatment of the external hemroids (external hemorrhoid) at home. However, using this method there is no cutting of the anal muscle.<br>

Once again, if you use a good natural hemorroid treatment you are treating the very causes of the hemorrhoid, and you are eliminating the hemorrhoids for good!  For more information on the best natural hemorrhoids cure that can eliminate your hemorrhoids forever — gauranteed.
